This week…

Knitting: The past couple of weeks have been full of knitting up swatches and samples for a couple secret-for-now projects that I am submitting to a couple knitting publications. It’s been pretty hard not to share any photos of what I’m working on, but I’ve finished those up and now just have to wait to hear back. So this week, I started working on a new cowl design – something that fun to knit and soft and cozy to wear. I’ve really been loving the tall, almost shawl-like cowls that squish up when you wear them, trapping warm air around you to keep you warm while also looking quite stylish. I took my cue from them and went off to have fun playing with color and stitches – whatever struck my fancy at the time.

Reading: I’m still stuck on Shadow Scale, the sequel to Seraphina. I haven’t had a lot of reading time, lately, but I try to get a few pages in before bed. I’m just not loving this book as much as I enjoyed Seraphina. Even though the world is expanding in this story, it doesn’t have the same charm as the first installment. My lack of enthusiasm is making it very easy for me to doze off instead of turn the next page…

Watching: I’ve been enjoying the summer movie season, watching a lot of movies at the theater. Last weekend, we saw Trainwreck with Amy Schumer, which was, as expected, pretty hilarious, but I also thought it was a sweet movie that had it’s dramatic moments, too. This past weekend, I also powered through the BBC series Poldark. A British period piece set in the English countryside – hello! I’m there. I’m looking forward to the second season.

Linking up with KCCO and yarn along.

  1. poldark sounds interesting! We rarely go to the theater so I’ll have to wait quite a while for the movie. Lovely secret knitting you got there.

    • Yes, go check out Poldark. I quickly got sucked into it and watched the whole first season in about two days. It made for some really great knitting tv.

    • Thank you, Annie. I was originally looking for a bright blue or pink for the design I had in mind, but when I came across the coral I fell hard and couldn’t get it out of my mind (or my hand).

  2. Fingers crossed for your top secret designs, how awesome would it be if you get into a knitting magazine?! I really love the bright pinkish colour you are using for your cowl. And I really need to start watching Poldark already, I’ve been hearing so many great things about it.

  3. That cowl looks great so far! Poldark’s definitely on my list, but I don’t know when I’ll finally get around to watching it.

  4. how exciting that you are working on new designs for submission, I bet they will be awesome! And it’s always good to have a casual project on the go, something that you can mentally unwind with when not designing.

  5. I still need to watch Poldark, thanks for reminding me! Also, I got the yarn to start knitting your hat – sorry it took so long, I didn’t have the needles and I couldn’t go out to get them until I got my drivers license blah blah but am on track again now!
